Getting started

Cura is the system your organisation uses to manage clients, workers, timesheets and day-to-day operations. You use it in a web browser. There is nothing to install. This page covers signing in, finding your way around, and what your role lets you see.

  1. Open Cura in your browser using the web address your administrator gave you.
  2. You will see the Welcome back screen (“Sign in to continue to Cura”).
  3. Type your work email in Email address.
  4. Type your password in Password.
  5. Click Sign in. The button shows Signing in… while it works, then takes you to your Dashboard.
  1. On the sign-in screen, click Forgot password?.
  2. On the Reset your password screen, type your email in Email address.
  3. Click Send reset link.
  4. You will see Check your email. “We’ve sent you a password reset link. Please check your email.”
  5. Open the email and click the link. It opens the Set new password screen.
  6. Type your new password in New Password and again in Confirm New Password. Passwords must be at least 8 characters.
  7. Click Update password.
  8. You are returned to the sign-in screen with the message Password updated successfully. Please sign in. Sign in with your new password.
  1. After signing in, the sidebar on the left lists the parts of Cura: Dashboard, Clients, Workers, Timesheets, Schedule, Leads, Invoices, Support at Home, Quality, Compliance and Forms. Under the Admin heading you will find Tasks, Forms to Review, Services, Reports and Settings. You only see what your role allows.
  2. Items marked with a small Soon badge are not switched on for your site yet. Clicking one shows a “coming soon” page with a Back to Dashboard button. Nothing is broken.
  3. On list pages such as Clients and Workers, the main button to add something (for example Add Client or Add Worker) is always at the top right of the page.
  4. Click your name at the top right to open the user menu:
    • My Profile: your personal details and password (see the Account help page)
    • Notifications: your notification preferences
    • Organization Settings: shortcut to Settings (admins only)
    • Sign Out: ends your session
  5. When a page takes a moment to open, a thin loading bar appears across the top of the screen. Wait for it to finish.
  1. Click your name/avatar at the top right.
  2. Click Sign Out. You are returned to the sign-in screen.

Everyone who signs in has one of three roles. Your role decides which sidebar items you can open. An Administrator can also create custom roles that limit a person to certain modules.

Role (shown in the app) Who it is for What they can do
Administrator The organisation owner / system administrator Everything: all modules, all settings
Provider Admin Office staff who run day-to-day operations Clients, workers, timesheets, and most settings, but not the Administrator-only settings
Staff Member Support workers and field staff Their own dashboard, schedule, timesheets and account, not other people’s records

Your role label is shown at the bottom of the sidebar and inside the user menu. If you cannot open something you think you should be able to, ask your administrator to check your role.

  • Cura works on desktop and mobile browsers. On a phone, the sidebar collapses. Look for the menu button at the top of the screen.
  • You do not need to “save” your place. Cura keeps you signed in until you sign out or your session expires. If your session does expire, signing back in takes you to the page you were trying to open.
  • A brief connection hiccup does not sign you out. Try the click again.
  • Each person should have their own login. Do not share passwords.
  • “Your session has expired. Please log in again.” You were signed in too long without activity. Sign in again. Nothing is lost.
  • “Please enter a valid email” Check the email address for typos (it must look like [email protected]).
  • “Password must be at least 6 characters” (sign in) / “Password must be at least 8 characters” (new passwords). Type the full password; check Caps Lock.
  • The sign-in screen shows an error after clicking Sign in. The email or password is wrong. Use Forgot password? if you are unsure of your password.
  • “An unexpected error occurred” Try again. If it keeps happening, check your internet connection, then contact your administrator.
  • I clicked a sidebar item and got “… is coming soon”. That module is not switched on for your site yet. Click Back to Dashboard or View Clients to continue.
  • The password reset email never arrived. Check your junk/spam folder, and confirm with your administrator that the email address on your account is correct.
